Description
This folder contains correspondence from multiple individuals. Cyrus Richard Crosby’s correspondence discusses his work with the Chalcid genus, Megastigmus. Crosby was completing a revision of the genus and had examined specimens belonging to several institutions such as the United States National Museum and the British Museum. His correspondence contains a receipt for two 3 megastigumus specimens from the American Entomological Society (AES).
Ulee P. Crumb’s correspondence contains an undated list of insects he owns. Notable entries are a box of grasshoppers and 13 dragonflies that were originally from Burma.
Charles Howard Curran’s 1923 letter to the AES indicates that duplicates of Pipizina and materials in Ephydridae were sent to the society from Canada’s Department of Agriculture, Entomological Branch.
Rolla P. Currie’s correspondence discusses his work with the Neuroptera family, Myrmeleontidae. An 1898 letter discussed a possible exchange of specimens between the AES and the United States National Museum, known today as the Smithsonian Institution. In 1909, Currie made a request to the AES for a photograph of Dr. William H. Ashmead that was to be reproduced by the Entomological Society of Washington for a biographical sketch.
Robert Asa Cushman’s 1915 correspondence with the AES discusses the correct spelling of Clistopyga alborhombarta and the borrowing of Pseudorhyssa specimens.
