Description
This folder contains correspondence from multiple individuals; many of the correspondents worked with Lepidoptera. George Alexander Ehrman's correspondence is centered around his work with Lepidoptera. In 1892, he wrote a letter to Henry Skinner expressing his disappointment in learning that his paper on African Aegeriidae was returned without being published by Entomological News. George P. Engelhardt served as the curator of the Department of Natural Science at the Brooklyn Museum. His 1925 correspondence with Skinner mentions exchanges of Enodia, a genus of butterflies, between the museum and the Academy of Natural Sciences. The Brooklyn Museum sent six specimens to the academy, with one from Mobile, Alabama and the rest from Gainsville, Florida.
In a 1906 letter, Gustav Eisen accused Gustav Beyer of failing to pay for his procurement of a collection of insects from another entomologist, Friolan Billa. Eisen alleged that this procurement was done without the knowledge of Billa and himself, and the collection was intended for him. He states in his letter that he would drop the matter if Beyer paid for the collection but would seek further legal action alongside other entomologists should Beyer fail to pay.
