Description
This folder contains correspondence from multiple individuals. L.G. Esson's correspondence discusses work done with Lepidoptera. In 1922, Esson captured a moth, Nyssia lapponaria, along the banks of the Red River in Scotland. In 1909, Esson discovered a new genus and species of a moth in Great Britain that was named after him by a colleague. Charles Faust's correspondence mentions a collection of mites that he brought with him to Alabama from Northern Illinois in 1907. Faust also describes the difficulty of capturing a butterfly named S. pegala in a 1909 letter.
Harriet Exline's 1935 letter came with an enclosed paper titled, "A New Species of Cybaeus," that she sent to Entomological News for publication. In her 1978 letter, Lynne Eytel shares her experiences as an amateur entomologist such as purchasing several books to teach herself and her request for a book containing illustrations of insects. Nellie E. Fealy served as executive assistant in the Office of Chief of Bureau at the United States Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Plant Industry. Her 1917 correspondence discusses a monograph she was writing about the Entomological Society of America and its work in dealing with plant diseases and plant pests. This monograph was written for the International Institute of Agriculture. Español C., Francisco (Español Coll) (1) 1947; Esson, L.G. (4) 1914-1922; Eustice, Henry W.
