Description
This folder contains correspondence from and directed to Bernard Benesh. Much of Benesh’s correspondence is focused on his study of Lucanidae, commonly known as stag beetles. Benesh made numerous exchanges of Lucanidae with the American Entomological Society (AES), once receiving an entire collection of Lucanidae named the Horn Collection for study in the early 1930s. Benesh also collected many Lucanidae to exchange with the AES, with one trip to Tennessee in 1932 yielding him several specimens to trade for species he did not own. He wrote several manuscripts and publications about Lucanidae that were sent to Entomological News, with the species, Dorcus brevis, being featured prominently throughout the second half of his correspondence. Benesh, Bernard (17) 1932-1937.
