Glass lantern slide of a black and white photograph of the construction of the Falls Bridge in Philadelphia. The view shows the side of the bridge with about two-thirds of the metal trusses completed across the river. The Falls Bridge, built in 1894-95, is a steel Pratt truss bridge with stone masonry abutments and piers. It was a Department of Public Works project and George S. Webster was the Chief Engineer. It was designed as a double-decker bridge but the second level was never built. Still in use today, it crosses the Schuylkill River in East Falls connecting Kelly Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. It was designed as a double-decker bridge but the second level was never built.
