This folder primarily contains correspondence authored by two French entomologists, Edmond André and Ernest André. Much of the correspondence is written in French, with some including an English translation. A significant portion of Edmond and Ernest André’s correspondence discusses payments and financial negotiations surrounding the exchange or purchase of insect specimens. These correspondences were directed to the treasurer of the American Entomological Society (AES) at the time, E.T. Cresson.
Within Edmond André’s correspondence, insect orders mentioned are Hymenoptera, Diptera, and Coleoptera. The family, Mutillidae, is frequently mentioned throughout Ernest André’s correspondence as he owned a large collection of different species and donated several specimens to the AES.
