According to the Winter 1969 issue of the Lycoming Alumni Bulletin , "The contents of the box buried in the cornerstone in 1855 were eagerly scrutinized by Oliver E . Harris , center , director of development and two alumni. " The alumni pictured are Dr . and Mrs . Charles E . Peterson , Jr . Marjorie Peterson served as a librarian at Lycoming College and was a member of the Class of 1949 , the first class at Lycoming to receive baccalaureate degrees .
