Mrs. Miller To Speak Tonight
State President of League of Women Voters Will Address Club Women At Y.W.
About two hundred and fifty women representing members of the Business and Professional Woman’s club and members of the League of Women voters will be served with dinner at the Y.W.C.A. at 6:15 o’clock this evening. The members of the Business and Professional Woman’s club will have their dinner served upstairs in the usual place and following a brief business session, at which time business concerning the Countess Cantacuzeno lecture to be given under the auspices of the club on April 2, will be transacted, the business women will join the League of Women Voters and the Civic club members in hearing Mrs. John O. Miller, state president of the League of Women Voters, talk on the proposed changes in the state constitution.
The League of Women Voters will be served in the gymnasium of the association at the same time that the Business and Professional Woman’s club is being served upstairs. Different menus have been arranged for the two organizations of women; Mrs. Miller, who is the guest of honor of the league for the evening is not expected to arrive until 7.10 p.m. It was not known until too late to change the plans which had been made for the dinner, that Mrs. Miller would not arrive in the city until 7.10 o’clock so she will not be able to have dinner with the members of the league but will give her talk on proposed changes in the state constitution at 8 o’clock. The Civic club, which is co-operating with the Clio club in bringing Mrs. Miller to the city, will join the League of Women Voters at 8 o’clock to hear Mrs. Miller’s talk. It was at first planned to have Mrs. Miller address the Civic club in the city hall, after the dinner at the Y.W.C.A., but owing to Mrs. Miller’s unexpected lateness in arrival, it was decided to have a combined meeting at the Y.W.C.A. All Civic club members and any others who are interested in Mrs. Miller’s subject, are invited to attend the meeting at 8 o’clock.
An orchestra has been secured to play during the evening and the interim between the dinner hour and the time for the address will likely be taken up with an appeal for new members and with selections by the orchestra.
Mrs. Miller will remain in the city over night and will address the members of the Clio club at their regular meeting tomorrow afternoon.
