NEW HOME FOR THE CLIO CLUB
DISCUSSED DURING ANNUAL MEETING OF THE LADIES
The Project Was Received With Much Enthusiasm, and the Proposed Building May Be Erected Within the Next Year – Biennial Election Held and Staff Officers Chosen – The Club Was Formed Eight Years Ago and Has a Membership of 135, With Many Applications on File
The annual meeting of the Clio Club was held at its quarters in the Park Hotel on Wednesday afternoon. The feature of the gathering was the discussion of the advisability of building a club house for the exclusive use of the organization. The project was received with much enthusiasm, and it was the consensus of opinion that such a building was desirable. While nothing definite was decided upon, it is believed that something tangible will occur during the year and that the popular woman’s club will occupy a home of its own before another twelvemonth shall have elapsed. It is understood several places were discussed to secure a suitable site for the proposed building.
The biennial election was held, the result being: President, Mrs. W.D. Crocker; First Vice President, Mrs. Charles Lose; Second Vice President, Mrs. Newton C. Chatham; Third Vice President, Mrs. Clarence L. Peasler; Recording Secretary, Miss Florence Slate; Corresponding Secretary, Miss Elizabeth Logan; Treasurer, Mrs. H.L. Ferguson; Directors, Miss Edna Stewart, Mrs. H.P. Lincoln, Miss Cora Ayres and Mrs. G.D. Nutt. Mrs. Walton Slate was also chosen to fill the vacancy caused on the Board of Directors by the resignation of Mrs. George C. Foley.
The Clio Club has a membership of 135, and its waiting list is large. It was organized eight years ago.
