Description
Letter sent by Pennsylvania Governor A. G . Curtin to Judge Thomas White from Harrisburg on July 9 , 1864 . Curtin writes that Judge White's son Harry is believed to have escaped from a Confederate prison in Salisbury , North Carolina . Nothing has been heard from Harry since the time of his escape , however , so Curtin is not sure if he was successful in reaching the Union's lines or not.
