Description
Letter sent by William Gustin Lowry (Gus) to his mother Rhoda Stone Lowry from an unknown location on November 9 , 186[2?] . Gus reports that he has left Snickers Gap and traveled to a new location . While he was traveling , he had the opportunity to look down upon the Shenandoah valley . He was amazed by the view and was also amused by watching the Confederate camps that were down in the valley . He reports that the weather had been rough and that it is apparent that Army is not clothed well enough . Finally he states that he has heard that General McClellan has been superceded and that the soldiers are very upset . [note : Parts of this letter are missing which has lead to uncertainty about the date and the location it was written from. The transcriber places the letter in 1862.]
