Description
Letter sent from William Gustin Lowry (Gus) to his mother Rhoda Stone Lowry . This letter was written a few days after the Confederate Army fled their stronghold at Yorktown . Gus's company has been held back on reserve rather than sent to chase after the retreating Confederates . He writes of his anger at hearing that many people up north do not agree with McClellan's strategies , because McClellan's decisions saved the lives of many men .
