Description
A letter from James Graham to his sister , Agnes Graham , dated January 28 , 1864 . He writes that his regiment had been on marching orders for two days because they believed that the rebels were going to attack somewhere else . This did not occur and the regiment returned to their original location . He describes how their packages have arrived , with butter and apples , and that most of the soldiers collectively share what is received , especially pies and cakes . He describes how difficult the weather has been for picket duty , with much rain and ice , but that it is possible to stay dry beneath a rubber blanket .
