Letter from James Graham to his mother from picket duty with the 906th , March 18th [most likely 1864] . In this letter , James Graham discusses how he is on picket duty , and that he believes his regiment is getting paid that day . He hopes to be able to send part of the money home . Graham also mentions that some of the companies have changed and that others have not and that his company has remained the same . In a postscript written on Monday (the rest of the letter was written on the previous Saturday) , Graham writes that he has received a pay of $64 and that he will send home $50 payable to his father .
