Letter sent from William Gustin Lowry (Gus) to his mother Rhoda Stone Lowry from camp near Yorktown , Virginia . The letter gives an account of what is going on at Yorktown including that General McClellan and General Heintzelman are present with a large force . Gus describes Heintzelman . He also addresses feelings that his family and friends have had about him joining the Army .
