Description
Letter sent by Harry White to his father Judge Thomas White from Washington on February 25 , 1865 . Harry writes his father to request aid for a rebel deserter . The deserter was a Union man who was conscripted by the Confederates . He guarded Harry while Harry was imprisoned at Salisbury , North Carolina . Harry notes that the man is a farmer's son , so any labor that pays that Judge White can find on one of his farms would be sufficient .
