A photograph of the reverse view of an oak casket given to Andrew Carnegie by the City of New York . The casket had once been owned by Sir Thomas Hope of Edinburgh , Scotland , whose house later became the site of a public library donated by Andrew Carnegie . The purpose of the casket was to hold a burgess ticket .
