Thank you for your letter of fourteenth May, stating the amount of your expenses in connection with caring, where necessary, for employees dismissed from Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, in accordance with Mr. Carnegie's letter to you of first February. Check for this amount will reach you in the course of a few days.
I have just returned from a two weeks' vacation, and am glad to be able to report that Mr. Carnegie is progressing nicely and is much better now than when I went away.
Very truly yours, Secretary.
