CARNEGIE INSTITUTE.
OFFICE Or THE PRESIDENT,
THE FRICK BUILDING.
PITTSBURGH, PA.,
January 7,1908.
My Dear Mr. Carnegie
Yours of December 31st postmarked, however, January 4th received.
Your generous contribution will be used to assist in the maintenance of the Carnegie Institute. We have invited all the members of Councils, the Mayor and Heads of Departments,to visit the Library Building Wednesday night for the purpose of informing the members of Councils as to the amount of work being done there, so that they may act on the appropriation asked for by the Board of Trustees, with full knowledge. Would you object to sending me a telegram to-morrow,expressing your approval of such an annual visit. I think the members of Councils should do this just as they inspect other public buildings and institutions. Councils have received the invitation, which I sent them by direction of the Board and, by resolution, have agreed to be on hand. Mr. Heinroth will give an organ selection, after which the entire Library portion of the building will be inspected and a simple lunch will close the evening.
Very truly yours,
