CARNEGIE LIBRARY OE PITTSBURGH.
OffiCE Or THE PRESIDENT,
THE FRICK BUILDING.
PITTSBURGH, PA.,
Jan.11, 1906.
Mr. James Bertram,
#2 East 91st St
New York City.
My Dear Mr. Bertram:-
I am in receipt of a note from Mr,
Church, forwarding a letter from you under date of January 6th, in which was enclosed a clipping from the New York Tribune, which I return. Ho contract, such as referred to,has been executed, suggested or, as far as I know, even thought of. Prom my point of view, the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie: Library of Pittsburgh has no more right to enter into such aeon-tract than to make a similar agreement with the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Sons of the Revolution, or in natural sequence, with the Ancient Order of Hibernians, or the B. P.O. Elks.
May I ask you infuture to bear in mind that Mr. Church is an officer of the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Institute, which body, while of course closely allied with the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Library, has nothing whatever to do with the apportioning of space in the Library Building. In similar cases, I think you will save time and obtain more accurate information if you will address me or my successor, directly.
Very truly yours,
W.N. Frew
