Description	A typescript copy of a letter from Albert J. Barr to William Nimick Frew concerning a letter that was written to, Albert J. Barr, editor of the Pittsburgh Post about the Carnegie Institution and Library. This letter entitled: Carnegie gift's versus city's maintenance of Carnegie institutions, presumably written by Mary Copley Thaw criticizes the "waste" in management of the Carnegie Institute and Library and the amount of money the cities who are gifted with Carnegie libraries have to pay to maintain them. Mr. Barr suggests to fill the next vacancy on the Board of Trustees with the election of Mrs. M. C. T (i.e. Mrs. Mary Copley Thaw).

Jan. 21st, 1905 My Dear Mr. Frew:- Enclosed I send you the letter of which I spoke last evening, written by a very energetic female, in order that you may keep posted on the affairs of the Carnegie Institution. I am satisfied you will find some things in it that you did not know. Will you accept a modest suggestion; and that is, to fill the next vacancy on the Board of Trustees by the election of Mrs. M.
