Description	A copy of a typescript letter from Mary Copley Thaw, wife of William Thaw, a prominent Pittsburgh, Pa. businessman, to Albert James Barr, editor of the Pittsburgh post. In the letter Mrs. Thaw expresses her concern of the hushing of inquiries into the "wasteful management of public institutions and money" and hopes that the Pittsburgh Post will along with the aid of "our honest controller, turn on the light". Mrs. Thaw then makes reference to an enclosure that "may be of some use" and asks to "please keep the writer's name out of sight".

Pittsburg, January 20th, 1905 To Albert Barr, Esq., My Dear Sir:- It gives one the impression that an effort has been made to hush all inquiry into this fearfully wasteful management of public institutions and money. May we not hope that the Post, which as a rule stands for honest adminstration of affairs, will take the opposite course and, aided by our honest Controller, turn on the light?
