Dear Mr. Carnegie:
There is at the moment on exhibition in our Institute a notable collection of paintings by Mr. Robert Vonnoh, one of America's able painters.
Mr. Vonnoh has written a letter in which he expresses his opinion of our permanent collection of paintings. Mr. Vonnoh's high standing as a painter makes his opinion authoritative and valuable, and i am therefore sending you herewith a copy of his letter for your pleasure.
Mr. H.W. Ranger, the Dean of American landscape painters, has expressed the same opinion in almost identical language, but without qualification.
Very sincerely
Director of Fine Arts
