BOARD OF TRUSTEES,
CARNEGIE LIBRARY,
PITTSBURGH, PA.
Carnegie Building,
April 4th, 1899.
My dear Mr. Carnegie:-
I have been expecting to see you here, as Mr. Prick informed me that you intended coming, but he seems now in doubt. I understand that you intend to sail on the 25th. If this is so, and you will not be able to visit Pittsburgh, I think I had better run on for a day or so and see you, as several matters of importance should be considered before you leave the country. Will you kindly let me know what your plans are?
I have the following from the Corresponding Secretary of the Tuesday Afternoon Club of Hazelwood.
"The ladies of the Tuesday Afternoon Club of Hazelwood wish to extend to Mr. Andrew Carnegie their sincere thanks for the interest he has manifested in their efforts to secure an auditorium in connection with the Hazelwood Library, and to assure him of their grateful appreciation of his most generous proposal to go into partnership and contribute an amount equal to that contributed by the citizens of the 23rd Ward."
Very truly yours,
