MARY HOUGiH WRITES OF THE ORGANIZATION fISIDER TAXPAYERS WHO PAY THE BILLS V, ' Sewer Question and Approach by Council—Preliminary Meoting Should Have Been First Held—Assessment Reduction Hinted A-<iocal residuen,t arjl tkxliay-r, who rt^id the article lelatiVo to the statement made by a large property owner in the borough printed in la;it AVjoek's issue ol the "Gazette" said he was fully jru'ltiflcd in his statement. Inpart, however, there were quotions in connection with the sewer that the large property owner did not bring- out. It waa a known fact, said this taxpayer, that council at one time call¬ ed a mieeting of a number ,ot larse taxpayers In tha borough to consider the sewer question, and there was a general discussion that laoted two or three hours, and thje outcome wa that the brouogh waia not then ready to be sewered. This hapixned at a time when conditions were much bet¬ ter than they are at present, and the taxpayers could have car.ried the bur¬ den much easier than they can now. Therefore some of the taxi>ayers were fully justified In getting atier council for not following the same method it did on the occasion mentioned and callin.g the taxpayers together for a full discussion of the sewer question. In lislening to those arguments on the sewer proposition at no tlniiG was it heard that council was condemned M'itii regard to installation of <a sewer system in Ambler.
