The Japanese have recently had their first Introduction to sleeping cars, and the Innovation has been a great success. These cars are native built, having be«n constructed at the Kobe shopp of the Sanyo railway, which Is the most progressive of all the Japanese lines and which Is constantly adopting American Ideas in the equipment of the road. The cars are four in number, and the first was put in operation early in the present summer. Monday, the date set for beginning the strike, will be the third anniversary of the march of miners from Harwood, Mac- Adee and West Hazleton to Lattimer, where so many men were slaughtered. They were designed and built by Mr. H. Iwasakl, locomotive superintendent of the Sanyo railway, and have proved very popular and profitable ever since their first trip, the Japanese Ilk' Ing tlu'm very much. As will be seen, there Is a small dining room seating eight persons at each end, where foreign style of food is served at nil hours of the day or night. These cars are 50 feet long. 8 feet wide and have* 10 berths and are lighted by electricity and heated by steam. There is a porter's room, the berths are very comfortable, and there are two small windows In each upper berth with blinds covered with fine netting to screen the dust from Incoming air.
