The Celebration will feature many of the activities presented in former years. This year as in .‘the past, the Phalanx Fraternity of the Sewickley YMCA and the Sewickley Valley Board of Trade will jointly Sponsor the celebration. In addition, the Hi-Y, Tri-Hi-Y and Kiwanis Club will give their generous cooperation, time and energy. The big parade will be formed in front of the Sewickley Public Library at 7-iOO p. m. sharp. All kiddies, bands and others participating in the parade are asked to' be there promptly so as to get under way at the scheduled time of 7i30; The usual parade route will be followed. (, Up Broad to Beaver to Blackburn to Centennial to Broad to Thorn.) -Treats will be given to everyone participating in the piarade and prizes will be awarded to persons who are well' dressed for the occasion. Th'e prizes will be awarded to the best costumes in the various age groups (under six, 7-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, over 16). Mr. Phajanx will again be on hand to be told “You are Mr. Phalanx.” He will answer only to the above quotation and when this occurs he will lead the person up to the platform to be awarded a swell prize. The King and Queen of the parade will be given prizes comparable to their high station and will they be surprised! After the parade, a gala program is being prepared for all to participate in'. A pie eating contest, emptying a coke with a nippled bottle, eating a. marshmallow on a string and many others. Prizes will be given to those who take part and special prizes will be made to tlio'se who win the contest. , One bigger and greater feature of this year’s celebration will be a window painting contest, done with the cooperation of tire merchants of the town; Each merchant along Beaver and Broad streets will be requested to donate his store window to be assigned to a particular boy or girl. The boys and girls will then be given water colors and told to go down to an assigned store and paint an original picture featuring a scene typical of Hallowe’en. Prizes will be awarded for the best three pictures. ! Next week additional information will appear in your Sewickley Herald. Be sure to look for News of the Hallowe’en Celebration. If in the meantime you wish to know more about the parade, call Mr. Leo C. Johns at .the YMCA. Mr. Johns is coordinating the organizing of the parade and 'celebration. Ham Supper At Little Hill Church A ham supper will be held at the Little Hill E.U.B. Church on Saturday, October 27, from 5:30 to 8 o’clock. K. 'Stevenson Company store at 447 Beaver Street, shown above, and the Sewickley Valley Produce Co., 518 Locust Place, were merged, as of midnight Wednesday, to form a new corporation, Sewickley Foods, inc. The new firm will remodel the former Stevenson Company store into p. complete food market. The building on Locust Place will be retained as a warehouse and garage for the new firm. Until the new store is formally opened, charge accounts will be honored at both stores. ft Sewickley Valley Produce Company Merged With Stevenson's ; Herald Photo By Bud James The Sewickley Valley Produce Company at 518 Locust Place, which was merged last midnight with the former Geo. Moore, Mrs. H. B, Cummings and Mrs, J, L. Turner. Mis. E. S. Henry will bo hostess for the day. The Board wishes to express their appreciation to those who will donate prizes and asks that they be left at the home of Mrs. Ralph K, Smith, 521 Academy Avenue, not later than November third.
