I 1, 3\ea6? for tfye Ifforse Sfyow «1 A WINNING HUNT TEAM In the Allegheny Country Club Horse Show, which opens next Friday, this group of handsome mounts will be observed with special interest; they won first honors in the hunt team'class at the' Cleveland Horse Show earlier this month. They are: Dictator, owned by B. F. Jones III., and Flashlight and Bingo, both belonging to H. N. Van Voorhis. In the Cleveland show J. 0. Burgwin, (M. F. H.), tho Huntsman, and H. C. Bughman, Jr., (whip) were up; in this picture we see Mr. Jones, the Huntsman and Mr. Bughman. Is i i t Numerous guests at ihiouse parties on Sewickley Heights over .the horse show, June 6, 7 and 8 at the Allegheny Country Club, the many attendants necessary to caro for 150 or more horses which aro due to arrive in Sewickley a few days before the show, and the horses themselves ■wliieh will crowd the stables in iSewickley and on the Heights promise Sewickley a very busy week. The show is to be ibigger than ever, with close 'to 300 hoirses entered, the out of town ones representing six states. Thoy aro coming from the East, Canada, and aa far west as Oklahoma City. This year for the first time there is to be a class for horses owned by farmers located in this vicinity, in which much interest has been manifested and a largo list of entries. This class is for farm horses, to be shown in hand, and will be judged on ihe last morning of tho show, Saturday, Juno 8th. The judges, of which there are six, represent Kentucky and Virginia, associated for generations With horse culture, Canada, and -the East. Judging saidclo horses and ponies will 'bo Charles N. Handier of "Wheeling, West Virginia, and Qua A, Thompson of Paducah, Ken tucky; five gaited saddle horses, Mr. Handier and Mr. Thompson; hunters and jumpers, S. J. Macy of Warrenton, Virginia; Lewis E. Waring of New York and-Harry Sifton Of Toronto; harness horses and iponies, Mr. Hanciher; farm horses, Thomas W. Clark of Edgemont, Pennsylvania, and Mr. Handier; breeding classes for saddle horses, Mr. Handier and Mr. Thompson, and breeding classes for hunters, Mr. Macy, Mr. Waring and Mr. Sifton. Most of the judges will bo quartered at the Allegheny Country Club. With Mr. Sifton will come his son, Clifford Sifton, who is to ride in some of the children's classes. Othor children who will make their horse show debut, Susan Burgwin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Burgwin; Marjorie Brown, daughtor of Mr. and Mrs. McOloane Brown; Macy Louise "Flinn, 'daughter of Mr, and Mrs. A, Bex Flinn; Elizabeth Boyd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, William Boyd; Elaine Darlington, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Harry Darlington Jr., and her brother, MeCullough; 'Eleanor Goorgo, daughter of Mr, and Mrs, W, D. George; Stolla Coulter, young Greensburger. The trophies are both valuable and different. The conventional large silver plate has been donated by the Alle-- gheny Country Club for the hunter championship and a large silver urn won last year Iby Torrence ' Miller in the Corinthian Class, is the John C. Oliver Memorial Challenge Cup, one of the coveted prizes. A cup presented by W. C. Eobinson will reward tho Shetland 'pony ©lass winner, and a similar silver vase was donated by T. A. MeGinley for the farm team Winner. W. B, Schiller contributed a cup for the children's saddle ihorso class winner and W. P. Snyder Jr., gave a cup for -tlio second prize winner in tho ladies' saddlo class, Tlle cup for tho first prizo Winner in tho same class was presented by H. N, Van Voorhis, A largo silver bowl, for the champion saddle horse owner was given by the club. The cup for tho saddlo pony class was donated by Mrs. W. P. Snyder, and a silver plate for tho ladies' hunter class was (presented by "Richard K. Mellon. Harry Darlington, Jr., presented the silver bowl for the farm liorso class. But *ho novelties among the prizes aro iii tiio other classes. Mass Gretchen V. Schoonmaker gave a silver group consisting of a large and Small horse, Saddled ready for riding, which will reward the .parent and child' elass winner. 'The novice Intnter class Winner will get a silver model of a hunter in 'hunt costume, the trophy presented by J. D. Lyon, going over a silver fcn.ee. Iu tho open jumper's elass 'the reward will be a jade cigarette tray, with a ■silver liorse on tho rim, the itrophy presented by J, Frederic Byers. A mounted huntsman, with dogs, surmounting a heavily ornamonted cigarette box, tho whole dona in silver, is the prizo for the hunt team class. The general committee includes H. 0. Bugl-man, Jr., chairman, "R. K. Mellon, W. B. Schiller, H. N. Van Voorhis, W, P. Snyder Jr., W. C. Eobinson and T. MeKoo Graiham. Mr, Van Voorhis1 is chairman of Alio ring committeo; Mrs, W. 0. Eobinson, chairman of tickets and boxes; Mrs. H. 0. Buglimian Jr., chairman of trophies; J, F. Byers, chairman of entertainment; Mrs. T. MeKoo Graham, of refreshments; Mrs. W, B.
