Borough Engineer Scott Shoup confirmed at council’s meeting Monday night that council awarded a bid of $336,558 to Samaras Construction at a special meeting on Dec. 28. The bid calls for the installation of sewer lines 63 houses and businesses in the northwest quadrantof the borough, thearea that borders Leet Townsliip and Economy Borough. Shoup said installation of the sewer lines were mandated by Allegheny County Health Department and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources (DER). He went onto Say the comity’s study found that 60 percent of the septic systems in the Sands Plan have been malfunctioning. An enforcement order was given toBell Acres by thecounty-and the DER to install public sewerlines, so council acted accordingly, he explained. Installationofthesewcr lines is expected to begin in early BABY STEP. Milo James Kusnir is the first child for Julie and James Kusnir of Big Sewickley Creek Road. He's also the first local baby born in Sewickley Valley Hospital for W95. Milo checked in at 9:44 p.m. bn Jan. 2 weighing 7 pounds, 6 ounces.
