If the panel agrees with the policemen, a full-time policeman’s salary would increase to $40,000, according to Flannery. • Both sides chose their own arbiter as well as both choosing a neutral one. A hearing was held Nov. 10 at which both sides presented their sides, with the -panel then having 30 days to render an award. ■ Flannery said the policemen currently receive'a benefits package worth approximately §7,000 per year. “In general ' terms, the borough would like an effort.to have the police-ena-. . ptoyees pay for an increase in costs in their'benefits.” Ken Wolf, a senior Sewickley patrolman who is representing ' the foreein the negotiations, said the eight officers are seeking a two-year contract but prefer a five-year contract. • Wolf said the police are seeking a 15 percent total package . increase, while the borough is -Centipued ea page 3 TIPS AT 741-8200 OR FAX THEM TO 741-5904
