Several local laboratories will test drinking water. They are:

Required by the Environmental Protection Agency, the study showed that six of the 40 random sites — 15 percent — within the authority’s jurisdiction contained high
levels of lead. Those same 40 ----------------^
sites are being retested by the EPA to make sure initial findings are conclusive.
“They are not really high, not toxic,” said Joyce M. Carte, of the authority. “But they are enough to warn residents and tell them to take measures.”
