called all members were present clerk davie read the minutes of the previous regular meeting and also of a special meeting held may 10 which were ap proved ae read the reports of the various commit tees were heard fiom their chairman alex knight jr chairmnn of the highway committee reported having had an interview with the gaa cnm panv referred to at last meetinm.and he would arrange with the borough solicit or to prepare the necessary ordinance mr knight aleo reported the streets in fair condition with the exception of the tinecraped streets which he said would be attended to soon mr craft a member of the highway committee called attention of council to the bad condition of board walks on north main and spring garden streets mr walmble of the fire committee reported engine in good condition but baid the company would disband unless help was given them mr acuff of the law and order com mittee reported four arrests during the month building permit committee albeit cambnrn chairman reported three building permits joseph haywood 4 george fieter 1 mrs thomas redingtou 1 the light borouah improvement and boroiir property committees made no re port a motion was made by mr kramer and carried that the highway commit tee be instructed to make the necessary repairs in front of m e allen's pro perty on main street mr knight moved that inasmuch as the properties of daniel dowlin and jefl'erson flrr had been damaged by reason of change of grade on butler ave nue that 100 be awarded dowlin anil 75 be awarded carr the motion was carried unanimously joseph j harton and charles shaffer regarding their south ambler proper ties were granted the floor and address ed council in reference to the damage done the properties caused by the vaca tion of centre street attorney foxhored the matter might be settled amicably without taking further steps in the mat ter he said mr harton considers him self damaged to the extent cf 2000 and mr staffer's damages are from f500 to 1000 no action was taken by council boiougn tftficer bcnleaii be paid an so daniel doivlin street commissioner mr kramer then addressed couneil with regard to the manner in which the trolley company had treated ambler he said they had violated their ordi nance in almost every particular in re gard to butler avenue mr kramer thought the present condition of butler avenue is disgraceful and outrageous and offered an ordinance to council de claring former ordinance no 72 null and void the ordinance was adopted h9 read mr acuff in reply to mr kramer said he thought ttiat ordinance no 72 was a good and binding ordinance but the difficulty was that it had not been enforced and suggested that mr kram er confer with the borough solicitor and take action against the trolley com pany before declaring the ordinance void mr buchanan moved that before ad journment a committee of three be ap pointed to meet wednesday night to confer with mr crilley relative to the matter carried mr kramer moved that the trolley company be notified to put butler ave nue in good condition and if at the ex piration of 10 days the work is not commenced that trie highway commit tee do the work and charge the same to the trolley company the motion nas carried a communication was received from james bartleson tendering his resigna tion as a member of the board of health inasmuch as he being a
