directly connected with one another and be cause of which two men were severely bruised and shaken up a woman was injured one horse was killed trolley car and furniture van inninged a collision between two other teams ami three men thrown out being shaken up con siderably nnd the wagons and names broken nnd damaged j rex dager's large furniture van from his ambler livery was coming up the bethlehem pike about lj.lo loaded with two tons of hex beine driven by lewis thomas end samuel htong both of ambler and regnlnr em pftyes of the livery just below sandy hun bridge the trolley car ca»n thun dering alcng with its glaring headlighi completely blinding the drivers and confusing the noises a slight cuive in the tracks at this point made the di rection and course of the car all the more confusing as the car rushed by it struck one of the horses tearing him away from the team turning him com pletely around and crushing him to death between the heavy car and the van either of which was too heavy to be moved by the collision the fender was broken from the car and the rear axle of the van was bent slightly while the wheel and axle were covered with blooc from the horse lewis thomas the driver on that side of the van was thrown out and painfully injured he was bruised cut and shaken up the skin being torn loose fruni his arm anc he was also cut about the head samue stong was mbler gazette vol xx no hx ambler pa alhu'st 7 1jk)2 25 a year chapter of * accidents three persons injured and a horse killed on bethlehem pike trolley flemlllght confuse driver hoikp of killed hnil mhii injured horftp lib fright at cars nml ru*hei into croviil j'iillt«i«>n itpaet three men last friday evening there was a eeries ' accidents between ambler and fort side inn all of which were directly connected with one another and be cause of which two men were severely bruised and shaken up a woman was injured one horse was killed trolley car and furniture van inninged a collision between two other teams ami three men thrown out being shaken up con siderably nnd the wagons and names broken nnd damaged j rex dager's large furniture van from his ambler livery was coming up the bethlehem pike about lj.lo loaded with two tons of hex beine driven by lewis thomas end samuel htong both of ambler and regnlnr em pftyes of the livery just below sandy hun bridge the trolley car ca»n thun dering alcng with its glaring headlighi completely blinding the drivers and confusing the noises a slight cuive in the tracks at this point made the di rection and course of the car all the more confusing as the car rushed by it struck one of the horses tearing him away from the team turning him com pletely around and crushing him to death between the heavy car and the van either of which was too heavy to be moved by the collision the fender was broken from the car and the rear axle of the van was bent slightly while the wheel and axle were covered with blooc from the horse lewis thomas the driver on that side of the van was thrown out and painfully injured he was bruised cut and shaken up the skin being torn loose fruni his arm anc he was also cut about the head samue stong was uninjured the force of the collision and the disastrous results spread nl:>rni among the passengers the car was stopped as soon as possible after the accident and assistance given the injur ed mao who was at once removed to his home on bethlehem pike ambler but was able to be out a little on sun day and went to work on monday the car then proceeded on its way to for side inn where the passengers ate required to walk under the trenton cut-off bridge just bh the passeimeis reached the bridge a heavy rumbling freight train was crossing overheat and some of the people waited for it to cross while standing in the road a horse coming up the pike took fright at the train became unmanageable an rushed right into the crowd defpite th efforth of the driver to prevent him 1 lady was injured having her jaw bom broken and several teeth knocked out anilfrjohn lowe who had been visiting his father-in-law alan berkhimer o ambler was also struck bv the horse and rendered unconscious when he re gained consciousness lie wab lying in the gem antown hospital he had ; deep c |
