the ambler gazette ol xx.-no 44 ambler pa xovembeil 27 1002 81.25 a ykah flourtown to allentown trolley bridge at north wales com pleted and in use i'asfletigern conveyed dlrnct from i.afilgli county to flourtown — tintli lt«»(inr<lln|j the alleged injunction of norrlstown line nt friends corner the bridge over the tracks of the heading railway at north wales is com pleted so that the first philadelphia & lehigh valley traction company car passed over at 3 150 friday afternoon since which time hub have been run ning direct from 1'lourtown to allen town without submitting passengers in the necessity of changing the car was in charge of motorman frank conley and conductor john kline several members of the north wales town coun cil and officials of the trollev company were present and there was grent cheer ing the crews running from allen town coopersburg and tjnakertown south changed cars at berkbimer's ^ switch for a few day the cars below being run by the same crew the bridge on which the cars cross the railroad at north wales is laid on pennsylvania avenue it is a massive structure of solid concrete abutments with a span of 114 feet 25 feet above the tracks kach girder is seven feet high and weighs about 24 tone the work has been in charge of the owego company of owego n y and tfie completion was much delayed by an accident which happened on sept 28 when one of the girders fell to the rail road injuring several workmen and bending the truss so that several weeks were required to repair the damage and replace the girders on tbe piers again •. tuesday morning the cars were run through direct from flourtown to al i-lfin town without change of crews and '¦ the new schedule was put into effect cars leave flourtown five minutes after the hour reach ambler 25 minutes after and going south are due at roberts corner 25 minutes of the hour this arrangement will probably prevail until the travel in early spring and summer demands more cars by which time the additional power at the generating plant at ambler will be available road master stone on satuiday said the extra service would have been granted last siimmer if sufficient power could have been secured but the dynamo at ambler was not capable of the extra work a new and larger engine hen been placed in the power house and at pres ent the arrival of the new dynamo is being anxiously awaited with the power at hand some very rapid running is accomplistud on the well-built line from north wales to flourtown one car making the trip from north wales to roberts corner ambler in just 11 minutes v friends corner to norristown work on the gwynedd branch of the wtansdale and norristown line is pro gressing last week about 100 men were at work on the line near the acuff estate over the wissahickon creek they are building a bridge 400 feet to cany the tracks charles f " k>i>utfrjie intt iiu tumw tendeckover the pike to frien ner the property on the south side is owned by the acuff estate in whose possession are 120 acres in that corner justus acuff is acting for the estate arjd he hab declined to grant permission for the line to be extended along the property where it would pats directly in front of wiliam penn inn which has now become an improved and valu able property the line would cut off the inn front and clutter up the splen did location with poles it is under stood that the estate would be agreeable to allow tbe line to be extended on the north side of the road to the sheds of ' tbe inn but here eoroute is met the opposition of the vestry of the episco pal church and trie home for convales cent children the opposition to the line arose from trolley experience it is said with the lehigh valley line it is claimed that certain promises made by the promoters to the estate were not carried out and there is hesitation on behalf of the lat tef towards granting any further con cessions to trolley roans when the philadelphia & lehigh valley traction eompanv extended their line from north wales to chestnut hill they en tered into an agreement with the acuffs at gwynedd corner to build a line from ambler to norristown which vyould pass over their property this line was to have been constructed by july 3002 but for some reason the same was not accomplished and the latter • compau y had seemingly dropped the project this led the lansdale and nor ristown company to take up the mat ter build a line and run a tripper from friends corner to fianklinville the acuff estate aver that this plan would belittle the branch running by their property and would be of very little convenience to anyone owing to the necessity of changing at franklin jille on the way to norristown the company is anxious to reach an ami cable adjustment but ho far as the estate is concerned the matter is resting spejnghou8e to dublin robert e wright president of the philadelphia & lehigh valley traction company says his company is connect iitl with the proposition to construct an electric railway from rjprintjhouse to dublin bucks county via montgomery sijuhre montgomeryville colmar lino lexington and leid>town the route i'iivi'im a distance nf l(i miles and about 10 miles of this line is on tbe bethle hem turnpike connections would be available at springhouse with the a lentown-chestnut hill line of the phila delphia & i.ehigh valley company and at ooluiur with thu 1'lihul ipliiu & heading railway company the pro voted road would lap a section of the county now without adequate trans portation f'ai'iliiii'ij and would undoubt edly prove a big feedef to
