the vol xx.-no 32 ambler pa ., jl gazette ly 31 1w)2 1.25 a year 1 trolley must wait phila & lehikh valley case goes over till september frolmlily the matter will then i:.-u 1 sii pn in court — knllrond employe < ul nm wire at north wiiim — llnrnngli will kctnliate morn cnrii the line of the inland traction com pany connect ids ambler with points north and south from allentown to l'hilndelphia will by order of court be prevented from being completed until next september and perhaps not t:<en some weeks a^'o the pennsylvania l'ail road company sought to secure an in junction against the above company restraining them from operating be neath the railroad company's bridge at fort side inn the casu was fought at court and after several hearings in which the railroad claimed to own the abutting land in fee simple the court refused the injunction and ordered the bill in equity dismissed unless excep tions be filed within the time limit of 20 days the exceptions were riled whicli still kept the bill a legal restriction against the trolley company it was then that the trolley company sought to have the decree of the court moiliiied in such a manner as to allow them to lay their tracks and operate until the exceptions could be argued and decided several days ago the matter was argued in open court and on friday the court handed down a decision refusing to modify its decree and allowing it to stand this refusal means that the bill in equity against the trolley company will stand until the argument on the e'xcep tions is held which will not be until september should the case then be again decided against the railroad com pany they will likely take it to the supreme court and it may be many months before this gap is closed the trolley nn wednesday strung their 27-strand feed wire over the beading railway at tbe point where the borough of north wales is building the new steel bridge over which the trac tion company will continue its line to connect with the allentown end at main and shearer streets that borough on thursday morning the construction train with a large force of dagoes came up the railroad and they threw a heavy line over the cable pulled it down to near the train level when the boss of the same cut it with a few strokes of a big cutlass the traction company had a small force of italians also at work laying track to the bridge site on washington avenue as soon as tbe foreman of these saw what was going on befdispatched his small force aided by the bridge constructors and endeavored to drive the railroad employes away but the latter were too many for them and they accomplished their object the place where the small riot took place is inside the boroogh limits arid in line with pennsylvania avenue tbe borough officials will no doubt be called » tq.e^akajy#jjutktoiiiil1 ff the til hvuflflb the affair hsfcrsfted considerable unfavorable criticism against the rail way company as the bridge nor the cable interferes or is in any way detri mental to them north wales council will now in all probability be petition ed to stop the rivers from going through town at greater sjieed than the law al lows and also compel the company to put up the safety gates at the main and walnut streets death traps so long delayed by the railway company saturday and sunday a car was run from fort side iiin to lindenwold ave nue and return to relieve the heavy traffic from ambler sooth which inter fered both witn the schedule and safety of the through earn this special car followed the regular up and preceded it down the heavy cars on the lower end of the line operated with power from the chestnut hill power house have been removed and the smaller summer cars substituted the larger cars taking more power than the union traction company could furnish at this season it is likely another turnout between ambler and p'ort side inn will be laid in the near future and then four cars ean be operated on the line from north wales to fort side inn and will be run on a regular schedule three tuna j h hinge jr is pulling down the old blacksmith and wheelwright shop and will make some improvements cornelius brogan by consent marred the playing of the home club lew kichie was in the box for the local team and aa usual lie was there with the goods he had the north wales players tied in a knot they secured but one hit up until the seventh inning in this inning me meeken the first man up got to first on a scratch hit to right field curter who followed lined the ball to deep right field for three bases scoring mc meeken hoover hit into left for tingle scoring curter on the return of the ball warwick made a poor throw to plate which enabled hoover to score kichie then steadied up and from then on there was nothing fifth they gave miller his bumps and after the dusi cleared away it was found that four blue birds had crossed the rubber this was the end of the scoring by the home club but it was enough to win al the hoys played well and deserve all the praise they are receiving never be fore was there such an enthusiastic crowd upon a ball field in ambler a the end of the ninth inning when richie struck the
