vot xx.-no 47 amdlkli pa xoviimhkh gazette li)o2 81.25 a year hot time at penllyn sheriff larzelere almost meets match his condition lti'i|iiin ilio shirlll of tin county ami n horoiiarli olllner to r«*cn » l.ii iih llmsv kliii-y nf tin si nlgglf wi ii - from a safe viewpoint sheriff larzelere of montgomery county tuesday afternoon at penllyn figured in what he styles as the warm est affair ho iirb over experienced a political contest lacks of comparison the power nf his office nnd the arm of the county were frustrated fora time by the combined efforts of lorenz bet tiiyand wife of penllyn the storv briefly is aa follows somo time ago mr frederick wink of fort washington gave bettay nn old gray horflo which tho latter was to afford a ood home in its declining years a ew days ago the horse ran a nail in its foot and it is alleged that bettay after saturating the wound with turpentine set it in fire and it is claimed burned the foot of the animal . mr wink on hearing of the treat ment made a claim for the animal which was refused he determined to secure the horse at all hazards and put it out of its misery so he appealed to the sheriff tuesday afternoon mr larzelere and mr wink drove up to penllyn and attempted to remove the horse but they were given a warm re ception by bettay and his wife both of whom fought strenuously and in the fracas both were handled rather rough ly for the sheriff and mr wink are each large and powerful men however the stout resistance put forth resulted in a temporary victory as the sheriff anil mr wink in lien of either warrants or weapons retired to ambler for reinforcements borough oflicer boileau then accompanied them and the three succeeded in securing the horae bettry and his wife having by this time decided to give up the animal without further delay the horse was killed on request of mr wink the former owner previous to this outbreak officer boileau had had some business deal ings with bettay and his wife for he had gone to penllyn to recover a cow for the payment of which bettay it js alleged had failed to live up to his agreement when the officer made a claim for the an-imai bettay met him it is claimed with a pitchfork and the woman amply backed up her husband in a tirade of words which mr boileau says were more forcible than elegant in the face of this proposition and be ing without either reinforcements a warrant or a weapon mr boileau re spectfully withdrew the experience of the sheriff thero fore afforded the ambler officer much amueement although the actual en counter it is said was decidedly warm r«*cn » l.ii iih llmsv kliii-y nf tin si nlgglf wi ii - from a safe viewpoint sheriff larzelere of montgomery county tuesday afternoon at penllyn figured in what he styles as the warm est affair ho iirb over experienced a political contest lacks of comparison the power nf his office nnd the arm of the county were frustrated fora time by the combined efforts of lorenz bet tiiyand wife of penllyn the storv briefly is aa follows somo time ago mr frederick wink of fort washington gave bettay nn old gray horflo which tho latter was to afford a ood home in its declining years a ew days ago the horse ran a nail in its foot and it is alleged that bettay after saturating the wound with turpentine set it in fire and it is claimed burned the foot of the animal . mr wink on hearing of the treat ment made a claim for the animal which was refused he determined to secure the horse at all hazards and put it out of its misery so he appealed to the sheriff tuesday afternoon mr larzelere and mr wink drove up to penllyn and attempted to remove the horse but they were given a warm re ception by bettay and his wife both of whom fought strenuously and in the fracas both were handled rather rough ly for the sheriff and mr wink are each large and powerful men however the stout resistance put forth resulted in a temporary victory as the sheriff anil mr wink in lien of either warrants or weapons retired to ambler for reinforcements borough oflicer boileau then accompanied them and the three succeeded in securing the horae bettry and his wife having by this time decided to give up the animal without further delay the horse was killed on request of mr wink the former owner previous to this outbreak officer boileau had had some business deal ings with bettay and his wife for he had gone to penllyn to recover a cow for the payment of which bettay it js alleged had failed to live up to his agreement when the officer made a claim for the an-imai bettay met him it is claimed with a pitchfork and the woman amply backed up her husband in a tirade of words which mr boileau says were more forcible than elegant in the face of this proposition and be ing without either reinforcements a warrant or a weapon mr boileau re spectfully withdrew the experience of the sheriff thero fore afforded the ambler officer much amueement although the actual en counter it is said was decidedly warm
