wednesday evening president orothers called the board to order and all the members were present the minutes of march 1 and i were read and approved mr.dillenbeck presented the pel itlon of residents and property ownarsalong pleasant avenue asking that said street be macadamised mr dlllunbeck stated that the street is 1240 feet left j nnd that ;;•.' house are located thereon mr cheston suggested that the board be furnished with a detailed financial statement showing the fixed enlarged and the income to tre expec(ed s that the board could plan intelligent ly for new work ¦ mr albrecht suggested that the board drive over the roads and highways of the township so as to be more intelll gently informed as to their condition and needs the petition above referred to wbj received and final act ion was postpon ed until the next meeting of the board mr cheston presented the petition of martha w conway for sarah v king requesting the board to allow tlie brush to remain on her sidewalk she having planted grass seed and had deposited the brush to prevent pedes trians from tramping the ground ami thus interfering with germination it was decided to authorize the secretary to notify mrs couway to have the brush removed at once mr cheston called attention to the need of an ordinance preventing the deposit of foul drainage in the streets and the solicitor was instruct ed to prepare such an ordinance mr.albrecht urged the board to give attention to that portion of park ave nue extending from pennsylvania ave nue to oreland station he said there would be very little labor required and he stated the owners are iniprov ing that bection for the good of ore land and desire to lay cement pave rnents and curbs it was decided to hold this petition with that of pleas ant avenue until after the board had completed its inspection of the town ship roads mr dillenheck called attention to the need of an ordinance providing for brick gutters along streets where pro perty owners desire to lay curbs am here two-thirds of the property ners along a certain street havt etther curbed or siguified their willing ness bo to do then by the propose ordinance to grant authority to tin board to compel the.je.niai ailar ordinance i's in fore ii chel'tmhiuii and has been found ti work very satisfactorily the solicit or was instructed to prepare an or dinance in accordance with the sug gestion mr yeakle of the property com mittee reported the township property being well cared for mr dillenbeck of the light com mittee reported that the philadelphia electric light company is meeting with considerable trouble by having many of jfs lights broken and con sequently at rimes portions of tin streets are in darkness he suggested an immediate notice be forwarded to the company whenever a light is dis covered broken mr.ches.ton said the company should rani the earth well around the poles at this season and also paint the poles and suggested that possibly the swagginn ft the poles and line had something to do with the lamps burn ing out so frequently mr.crothers said he had notified the company at once when he had disj covered any lamps not burning antt had found that tlie company responds very promptly to the notice mr cheston called attention to the insufficient illumination at the chest nut hill park and thought possibly the lamps needed renewing the secre tary was instructed to notify the company mr albrecht suggested two more lights on the hidge road in upper koxtorough mr cheston brought up the matter of lighting the bpringhouse and chestnut hill turnpike and stated that the cost is about 700 while if jijlio.tfrolley company could be compelled to light this roadway the lamps now stationed along the same could be removed to other parts of the town ship for information ilr john kaber miller solicitor of the board stated the commissioners frequently had this matter under discussion and had even taken preliminary legal steps m the matter but owing to the unsettled condition of the recevership and the finances of the trolley company which owiib the right of way over the pike , was thought best to proceed no fur ler at present according to his statement there are only two releases of right of way in the township where in the trolley company has agreed to turuish lights and one of these pro perties has since changed hands while the release of the other ho feared might not be available in such proceed ing were the board to take positive legal steps mr uneston thereupon maaited coimnuuicating with the trolley ooui puny to secure needed repairs to the roadway through the township mr orothurs of the highway com mittue reported having written bosd supervisor klako respecting a thorough inspection of the bridge and roads and he wednesday evening president orothers called the board to order and all the members were present the minutes of march 1 and i were read and approved mr.dillenbeck presented the pel itlon of residents and property ownarsalong pleasant avenue asking that said street be macadamised mr dlllunbeck stated that the street is 1240 feet left j nnd that ;;•.' house are located thereon mr cheston suggested that the board be furnished with a detailed financial statement showing the fixed enlarged and the income to tre expec(ed s that the board could plan intelligent ly for new work ¦ mr albrecht suggested that the board drive over the roads and highways of the township so as to be more intelll gently informed as to their condition and needs the petition above referred to wbj received and final act ion was postpon ed until the next meeting of the board mr cheston presented the petition of martha w conway for sarah v king requesting the board to allow tlie brush to remain on her sidewalk she having planted grass seed and had deposited the brush to prevent pedes trians from tramping the ground ami thus interfering with germination it was decided to authorize the secretary to notify mrs couway to have the brush removed at once mr cheston called attention to the need of an ordinance preventing the deposit of foul drainage in the streets and the solicitor was instruct ed to prepare such an ordinance mr.albrecht urged the board to give attention to that portion of park ave nue extending from pennsylvania ave nue to oreland station he said there would be very little labor required and he stated the owners are iniprov ing that bection for the good of ore land and desire to lay cement pave rnents and curbs it was decided to hold this petition with that of pleas ant avenue until after the board had completed its inspection of the town ship roads mr dillenheck called attention to the need of an ordinance providing for brick gutters along streets where pro perty owners desire to lay curbs am here two-thirds of the property ners along a certain street havt etther curbed or siguified their willing ness bo to do then by the propose ordinance to grant authority to tin board to compel the.je.niai ailar ordinance i's in fore ii chel'tmhiuii and has been found ti work very satisfactorily the solicit or was instructed to prepare an or dinance in accordance with the sug gestion mr yeakle of the property com mittee reported the township property being well cared for mr dillenbeck of the light com mittee reported that the philadelphia electric light company is meeting with considerable trouble by having many of jfs lights broken and con sequently at rimes portions of tin streets are in darkness he suggested an immediate notice be forwarded to the company whenever a light is dis covered broken mr.ches.ton said the company should rani the earth well around the poles at this season and also paint the poles and suggested that possibly the swagginn ft the poles and line had something to do with the lamps burn ing out so frequently mr.crothers said he had notified the company at once when he had disj covered any lamps not burning antt had found that tlie company responds very promptly to the notice mr cheston called attention to the insufficient illumination at the chest nut hill park and thought possibly the lamps needed renewing the secre tary was instructed to notify the company mr albrecht suggested two more lights on the hidge road in upper koxtorough mr cheston brought up the matter of lighting the bpringhouse and chestnut hill turnpike and stated that the cost is about 700 while if jijlio.tfrolley company could be compelled to light this roadway the lamps now stationed along the same could be removed to other parts of the town ship for information ilr john kaber miller solicitor of the board stated the commissioners frequently had this matter under discussion and had even taken preliminary legal steps m the matter but owing to the unsettled condition of the recevership and the finances of the trolley company which owiib the right of way over the pike , was thought best to proceed no fur ler at present according to his statement there are only two releases of right of way in the township where in the trolley company has agreed to turuish lights and one of these pro perties has since changed hands while the release of the other ho feared might not be available in such proceed ing were the board to take positive legal steps mr uneston thereupon maaited coimnuuicating with the trolley ooui puny to secure needed repairs to the roadway through the township mr orothurs of the highway com mittue reported having written bosd supervisor klako respecting a thorough inspection of the bridge and roads and he township hridge.ainl the secretary was authorised to write to cheltenham to have same done at dace he stated that a complaint had been lodged regarding a hon in ridge road but same was found to 1 nt do the township boundary inasmuch as the welsbach street lighting company at their own r pense must replace all broken lights the board did not consider it necessary to change the location sf tlie
