Hamilton Paper Mills Close. The Ilamillon paper mills. .-It La¬ fayette, were forced lo close down Thursday owing to a .shortage of coal. A result several hundred employees have been thrown out of work. The mill hxis supplies ordered, but these have been diverted to other points. One of the officials stated that the mills can stand a temporary shut¬ down, but that a gre.at hardship hai^ been inflicted on the employees, thrown out of work just at Christmas time. With tlie suspension of a part of the l\-y Rock Mills, where many locaUties are employed and the lay¬ ing off of many men at the Rainey- Wood Coak company plant, many .aomes in Conshohocken are realizing' the seriousness of the coal fdmine. The jutper mills are outside of the first 'five priorities to which coal is now being distributed. of Tyson, of Philadelphia, formerly oC the Horsham, died last week and the fun~ , era! wa.s Iicld on Tuesday. i Miss Hmily Winner, of Wycomt>e, I has been spending several 'days wUK I Mr, and Mrs. Frank Forker in Hors¬ ham. On Friday Ithey toutchered one (foif- Harry Aiinan, -one for Edward Blake- and two from the Sauers farm. Violating Borough Law. \_ It was with great pleasure I read in a, recent issue of this paper Ciat not only a Colony club member, but others voice my sentiment regarding^ the reckless motor driving don6 through the borough of Ambler, There is only one answer to the ques¬ tion and that is : Some one is ne¬ glecting his duty. So it is up to tho individual to take the matter in hand at once, before some serious accident happens. The present motor laws re quire jiarking on the right side of all streets always heading about 12 inches from curb, not to cut comers, always rounding all posts which are station¬ ed at intersections of the streets, and many other laws which all motorists should know and observe. Our borough speed limit is 15 miles per hour. Every one driving a car knows that 15 miles per hour is very slow driving, but it is much better to keep near 15 miles per hour, than it is to see how far you can get away from it. It every person who is interested in correcting this evil, will secure the license number of every car whose driver violates the law. also the name of a witness, and present their case to Justice Urban, whom I know will give everybody a square deal, I am satlsfiivl this trouble will soon be corrected. A MOTORIST. WYNDMOOR. Servicet) will be held in Grace IiuUl~- eran church on Christmas morning at 6.39 o'clock. The pastor. Rev. Waltei- M. Ruccii(s, will preach a special ser¬ mon. Mrs. Wurst has moved to Philadel¬ phia from Flourtown avenue. A social mooting of tho Grace Luth¬ er League -was held Tuesday evening? An enjoyable parly was given to» Oswald Ackenback last Saturday T'V'enlug by a number ot his youns friends. The regular monthly business ses¬ sion of the Auxiliary society, of Graccii Lutheran church, will be held Thurs¬ day at 2.30 p. m., at the home ot Mrs^ Frank P. Myers. John McCormick has moved fron^i Tioga to one of E. T. Stotesbury'a tenant houses on Plymouth avenue, formerly occupied by George Mellon. The Wyndmoor public school wil^ close at ttoon December 24 for tho Christmas holidays and will reopen January 5. The Christmas entertain¬ ment will be rendered December 23. Jr. At a meeting of tho local post, American Legion, held Thursday*" evening, Docenilier llth, it was un¬ animously decided to n.ame the per ¦ • manent post in honor of Nortoii Downs, Jr. Dr. C.
