"As a result of conferences with naved statesmen and na¬ val experts in England, France and Italy, the party returns with much first-hand information of the best foreign opinion as to technical naval policies on the sea and under the sea," aaid Daniels. "Our information will be discussed with the navy of¬ ficers before any recommendations are made to Congress."
Daiiiels referred to his trip airiong the American soldiers abroad.
"TTie uppermost thought in the minds and hearts of all our soldiers across is a burning desire to come home," he said. "We arc bringing them back rapidly, 289,000 being returned in April. More than that number will be transported to the United St.ites in May and June. This will leave about 400,000 American troops in Europe July 1, cmd there will be facilities to return all our soldiers eis soon as the needs of the country will release men from whatever army of occupation may be re¬ quired."
