Description | Volume 3 (Gettysburg v.1) of a collection of 6 albums of photographs of Civil War battlefields, cemeteries, landmarks, and monuments The photographs were taken in Antietam, Bull Run, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, and Richmond. All of the photographs are identified in an unknown hand and were most likely taken ca. 1885-1886 (judging from the completion of certain monuments at Gettysburg, and the fact that the puddingstone monument for the 20th Massachusetts is shown incomplete). The photographer is unknown, but seems to emphasize Pennsylvania connections. |
