Accidents or 49% of accidents at unprotected grade crossings occurred at street crossings: Accidents or 51% of accidents at unprotected grade crossings occurred at road crossings: Collisions with vehicles at unprotected grade crossings resulting in no injuries to persons: Accidents or 74% of accidents at protected grade crossings occurred at street crossings: Accidents or 26% of accidents at protected grade crossings occurred at road crossings: Collisions with vehicles at protected crossings resulting in no injuries to persons: Accidents during time crossings were not protected: 9 killed, 45 injured. Accidents at protected grade crossings due to gates not being lowered: 5 killed, 16 injured. Accident at protected grade crossing due to gates being out of order: 2 injured. Accident at protected grade crossing due to watchman being absent from crossing: 1 injured. Accidents to crossing watchmen while on duty: 5 killed, 8 injured, (not included in above table) Accidents at protected grade crossings due to pedestrians crawling under lowered gates: 10 killed, Accidents occurred during daylight: 72 killed, 208 injured. Accidents occurred during darkness: 60 killed, 267 injured. Accidents to automobiles on Sundays: 26 killed, 60 injured. Accidents at State Highway grade crossings: 34 killed, 115 injured. 108 accidents occurring at unprotected crossings, and 73 at protected crossings. Automobiles driven through lowered gates and struck by engine: 2 killed, 9 injured. Automobiles driven through lowered gates and into side of engine or train: 1 killed, 7 injured. Automobiles driven into side of engine or train moving over crossings: 9 killed, 123 injured. Automobiles driven into side of engine or train standing on crossing: 22 injured. Automobiles struck by tender of engine, or draft movement being backed over crossing: 10 killed, 62 injured. Automobiles stalled on crossings, and struck by train: 4 killed, 20 injured. Collisions of train and street car, one due to car operator violating the Commission's General Order No. 5. (no casualties) Collisions of auto-bus with trains due to slippery condition of road, (no casualties) Crossing gates were crashed into or through, involving 776 Automobiles and Autotrucks, 2 Auto-Busses, 2 Taxi-Cabs, 3 Motorcycles, 5 Street Cars and 8 Wagons, included in above table as contact was not made with engine or train.) 6 injured.
