Awards Assembly Held A t Warwick High School An awards assembly for senior high students was held last Friday at Warwick High School. Steve Palkovic was in charge of the program. The following academic awards were presented: Voice of Democracy (Veterans of Foreign Wars)—1st—Barbara Price, 2nd—James Brenner, 3rd ■ —Dorothy Bruzina, 4th—Susan Vorkman, 5th—Bonnie Davidson; Boys’ Rotary Leadership Camp—John Mummert, Steven Wier, Gilbert Welliver. American Legion Keystone Camp—Timothy Reese, David Deibler; Girl’s Keystone Award —Linda deFernelmont; Senior Girls’ Oratorical Contest—1st— Jessica Bender, 2nd—Jane Kauffman, 3rd—Romaine McAlpine. Women’s Guild Elects Officers St. Paul’s Lutheran Women’s Guild elected new officers for 1969-70 at a Mother-Daughter Banquet. Elected were: Mrs. John White, president; Mrs. Dale Frantz, vice president; Mrs. Martin Dombach, secretary, Mrs. Omar Bucher, treasurer. Three committee chairmen were appointed as follows: Mrs. David Staruse and Mrs. Edward Weiler, co-chairmen for Education, Mrs. Kenneth Grove, Christian Service chairman and Mrs. ilaymond Brobst, Membership chairman. The five Women’s Circles of the Church will conduct their final meeting of the season on these days — Sunrise and Mary Circles in the Lounge on Wednesday, June 4 at 9 a.m.; Ruth and Esther Circles, Tuesday, June 10 in the evening and the Martha Circle, Wednesday, June 11 at Mrs. John Witmyer’s coinage. The topic for the month will bs “Disadvantaged Children of God.” Mrs. Rodney Welsh, Jr., will be the speaker at the morning and evening sessions. A film will be presented in connection with the topic. It is entitled “Why Billy Can’t Learn.” Mrs. James Stough will present the topic to the Martha Circle on June 11 in the afternoon. Rehearsal Schedule For Seniors A rehearsal schedule for seniors at Warwick High has been announced as follows: Baccalaureate rehearsal — May 29 at 12:30 p.m. at the school auditorium. Seniors are to report to the school at 6:30 p.m. June 1 for the Bac-caleureate Service. Graduation rehearsals will be held on June 2, 3, and 4 at 1 p.m. at the High School. CORRECTION The name of Linda Louise Antes was accidently omitted from the list of seniors who are graduating from Warwick High School in last week’s paper. Identify Photo Last Thursday morning as soon as the Record hit the street, John Lutz, 128 Front St., stopped by the office to identify the people in the photo, made available to the newspaper by Mrs. Margaret Hanna, as members of the Moravian Sunday School orchestra which was under the direction of George Hepp in 1917. Lutz identified everyone but the first fellow on the left in the front row, who has since been identified by Victor Kauffman as Lincoln Conrad. Others in the front row, according to Lutz are: Arthur Evans, Lewis Hepp, Galen Shenenberger, Viola Leib Witmyer, Mrs. E. S. Crosland, Joe Zahm, and Thomas Haisch. Jennifer was the winner in the Child’s Photo Contest, sponsored by the Lititz JayneCees, at the Street Fair last Saturday. Holding Jennifer is Mrs. Charles Ditmer, 417 Hensley St., Lititz, chairman of the Photo Contest. Missing Boys Return Home Two Lititz boys, reported missing by their parents since early Monday Morning, were picked up by the Pennsylvania State Police near Bowmansville at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and returned te Lititz. The boys, Theodore Rosenberg, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rosenberg, 527 Front St. and John Redcay, son of Mr. and Mi1- Howard Redcay, 442 Wood-crest Ave., reportedly left sometime between midnight and 7 a m. Monday taking with them knapsacks and camping equipment. Cloister Twin Picnic, Sunday The Cloister Twin Association picnic at the Lititz Springs Park on Sunday, June 1. Twins of all ages, their families and friends are invited to attend the event. Persons attending are to bring a picnic lunch. There will be no dues, but a free-will offering will be taken. Registration for the picnic will begin at 12 noon. C. Demmy, president of the Lititz Public Library Board. The donation, realized from a recent book sale sponsored by the Woman’s club amounting to $175 plus a $75 additional gift from the club, will be used to purchase new books for the library. Observing the proceedings is Mrs. J. Franklin Everett, center, Woman’s Club president. Linden Hell Commencenu Commencement speakers for Linden Hall’s 223rd graduation exercises have been announced by Dr. Byron K. Horne, Headmaster of the school. The Honorable Marvin E. Miller, Republican Representative in the House of Representatives of Pennsylvania from the 97th district, will address the graduates at the commencement event, June 2 in the Lititz Moravian Church. The Reverend Melvin R. Klokow, pastor of the Moravian Church of Gnadenhutten, Ohio, will give the Baccalaueate sermon, June 1 in the Moravian Church, Lititz al 10:30 a.m. Mr. Miller, of 501 Valley Road, Lancaster, is presently serving on a Select Committee investigating The Administration and Enforcement of the Narcotics, and Drug Laws in Pennsylvania. He has served in this area as a newspaperman with the Lititz Record Express, the Lancaster New Era and the Intellingencer-Journal. The Rev. Klowkow is the father of one of the graduating class. He’ is a graduate of Moravian College and Theological Seminary in Bethlehem and has served on pastorates in Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio and as a missionary to Eskimoes in Bethtel, Alaska. Local students to be graduated by Linden Hall on June 2 are Miss Barbara Creamer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl R. Creamer of 1585 Wheatland Road, Lancaster; Miss Nancy Edwards, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Edwards of 1511 Hill-crest Road, Lancaster; Miss Joanne Herr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George L. Nifre A rep' al peilormance of “Oliver’ will be presented by Ronald Famslui’a sixth grade class on Wednesday, May 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lititz Elementary School auditorium. There will be no ad-mnsion charge. Graduates To Be Honored Graduates from High School and Colleges will be honored at the morning worship service at 10 a.m. at Trinity EC Church on Sunday, June 1. Graduates and their parents will sit in a reserved section in the sanctuary. The Rev. Ralph Bornman will deliver the message “One Accord in One Place.” There will be no evening service. A missionary workshop will he held at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. June 4 at which time articles will be prepared for the mission in Mexico. A Committment Service of the Daily Vacation Bible School staff will be conducted on Sunday, June 8 at the morning worship service. Volunteer Drivers Urgently Needed The Welfare Committee, of the Lititz Woman’s Club, is in need of volunteers to drive two children to the Camp for Retarded Children at the Elk’s Grounds Ephrata on July 8-11 and July 14-17. Anyone interested in providing transportation for the children to and from the Camp may contact Mrs. Arthur Holder, Welfare chairman, by calling 626- 7248. Legion Memorial Day Services On Friday Commencement Exercises At Warwick June 4 Commencement exercises at Warwick High School will be held June 4 at 7 p.m. on the school athletic field. In the event of inclement weather, exercises will be moved to the high school auditorium. The theme for the student orations is “Meeting the Challenge of Progress.” Student speakers are James E. Harbison, son of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Harbison, 311 East Second Avenue, Lititz, whose topic is “Meeting the Challenge of Personal Responsibility”; Miss Jane D. Kauffman, daughter of Mr. and Mixs Ray D. Kauffman, 220 East Second Avenue, Lititz, who will speak on “Meeting the Challenge of Education”; Michael/). Carvell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter B. Carvell, 315 Landis Valley Road, Lititz, who will speak on the topic “Meeting the Challenge of Science”; and Miss Nancy J. Hofferth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace B. Hofferth, 212 East Second Avenue, Lititz, whose topic is “Meeting the Challenge of Government.” Diplomas will be awarded by Horace A. Kauffman, school board president. Harold W. Swisher, high school principal, will present the special awards. The Reverend Clemens W. Ros-enberger, pastor of the Lititz Church of the Brethren, will offer the Invocation; The Reverend William G. Grosz, pastor of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, Brunnerville, will give the Benediction. The high school band, under the direction of Charles Horn-berger, high school music teacher, will provide music for the exercises. Miss Terry Kepner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald F. Kepner, 601 South Broad St., Lititz, and a member of the graduating class will sing Rogers and Mammersteins “You’ll Never Walk Alone” accompanied by Mr. Hornberger. Prior to the Memorial Day Service a parade will forrh at 10:30 a.m. on Warwick Street, proceed at 10:45 a.m. east “on West Lincoln Ave. to Broad Street, south on Broad Street to Main Street, east on Main Street to the Moravian Cemetery. Organizations participating in the parade should report at the starting point promptly at the time mentioned. In Rothsville, the parade will form at Skyview Lane at 9:0.0 a.m. and move west through Rothsville and ending at the Lutheran Cemetery where Memorial Day Services will begin at 9:30 a.m., the speaker being Harry H. Gring, member of the State House of Representatives of Pennsylvania, 99th District. Rev. Myles R. Smeltz, Pastor of the Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Rothsville, will give the invocation and Rev.. James C. Mohn, Pastor of the St. Paul’s Evangelical Congregational Church, Rothsville, will pronounce the Benediction. Candidates For B S Degrees Four local students have been listed as candidates for degrees to be granted by Elizabethtown College during its annual spring baccalaureate - commencement, June 1. A total of 268 students are (Continued on Page 8) Driving Program U nder the auspices of the Lititz Community Center, Mr. Thomas Stutzman, Warwick High School Driver Education teacher, will conduct a Driver Education program for Adults. The classes will begin July 7th and will continue for six weeks. A registration fee of $20 will he required, along with a $2.00 membership. Identify Photo Last Thursday morning as soon as the Record hit the street, John Lutz, 128 Front St., stopped by the office to identify the people in the photo, made available to the newspaper by Mrs. Margaret Hanna, as members of the Moravian Sunday School orchestra which was under the direction of George Hepp in 1917. Lutz identified everyone but the first fellow on the left in the front row, who has since been identified by Victor Kauffman as Lincoln Conrad. Others in the front row, according to Lutz are: Arthur Evans, Lewis Hepp, Galen Shenenberger, Viola Leib Witmyer, Mrs. E. S. Crosland, Joe Zahm, and Thomas Haisch. Missing Boys Return Home Two Lititz boys, reported missing by their parents since early Monday Morning, were picked up by the Pennsylvania State Police near Bowmansville at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and returned te Lititz. The boys, Theodore Rosenberg, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rosenberg, 527 Front St. and John Redcay, son of Mr. and Mi1- Howard Redcay, 442 Wood-crest Ave., reportedly left sometime between midnight and 7 a m. Monday taking with them knapsacks and camping equipment. Cloister Twin Picnic, Sunday The Cloister Twin Association picnic at the Lititz Springs Park on Sunday, June 1. Twins of all ages, their families and friends are invited to attend the event. Persons attending are to bring a picnic lunch. There will be no dues, but a free-will offering will be taken. Registration for the picnic will begin at 12 noon. Linden Hell Commencenu Commencement speakers for Linden Hall’s 223rd graduation exercises have been announced by Dr. Byron K. Horne, Headmaster of the school. The Honorable Marvin E. Miller, Republican Representative in the House of Representatives of Pennsylvania from the 97th district, will address the graduates at the commencement event, June 2 in the Lititz Moravian Church. The Reverend Melvin R. Klokow, pastor of the Moravian Church of Gnadenhutten, Ohio, will give the Baccalaueate sermon, June 1 in the Moravian Church, Lititz al 10:30 a.m. Mr. Miller, of 501 Valley Road, Lancaster, is presently serving on a Select Committee investigating The Administration and Enforcement of the Narcotics, and Drug Laws in Pennsylvania. He has served in this area as a newspaperman with the Lititz Record Express, the Lancaster New Era and the Intellingencer-Journal. The Rev. Klowkow is the father of one of the graduating class. He’ is a graduate of Moravian College and Theological Seminary in Bethlehem and has served on pastorates in Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio and as a missionary to Eskimoes in Bethtel, Alaska. Graduates and their parents will sit in a reserved section in the sanctuary. The Rev. Ralph Bornman will deliver the message “One Accord in One Place.” There will be no evening service. A missionary workshop will he held at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. June 4 at which time articles will be prepared for the mission in Mexico. Volunteer Drivers Urgently Needed The Welfare Committee, of the Lititz Woman’s Club, is in need of volunteers to drive two children to the Camp for Retarded Children at the Elk’s Grounds Ephrata on July 8-11 and July 14-17. Legion Memorial Day Services On Friday Commencement Exercises At Warwick June 4 Commencement exercises at Warwick High School will be held June 4 at 7 p.m. on the school athletic field. In the event of inclement weather, exercises will be moved to the high school auditorium. The theme for the student orations is “Meeting the Challenge of Progress.” Student speakers are James E. Organizations participating in the parade should report at the starting point promptly at the time mentioned. In Rothsville, the parade will form at Skyview Lane at 9:0.0 a.m. and move west through Rothsville and ending at the Lutheran Cemetery where Memorial Day Services will begin at 9:30 a.m., the speaker being Harry H. Gring, member of the State House of Representatives of Pennsylvania, 99th District. Rev. Myles R. Smeltz, Pastor of the Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Rothsville, will give the invocation and Rev.. James C. Mohn, Pastor of the St. Paul’s Evangelical Congregational Church, Rothsville, will pronounce the Benediction. A total of 268 students are (Continued on Page 8) Driving Program U nder the auspices of the Lititz Community Center, Mr. Thomas Stutzman, Warwick High School Driver Education teacher, will conduct a Driver Education program for Adults. The classes will begin July 7th and will continue for six weeks. A registration fee of $20 will he required, along with a $2.00 membership.
