No strong movement in favor of the meas ure Is visible anywhere. Nevertheless, Premier Balfour has stated that he will persist in bringing it up for con sideration at the next session of Par liament. Ptttaton, Pa. Exception was taken to the statement made by Oenerul Balfour, president of the British board of trade, In his speech at Sheffield that a majority of tho directors of the new combination were to be Britons. Charles Steele of J. P. Morgan & Co., who has had the details of the formation of the combination under bis supervision, said Mr. Balfour was slightly in error If he was quoted correctly In saying that tbe English interests would dominate the new combination. In discussing this point Mr. Steele said that Mr. Balfour evidently meant that the subsidiary companies of the steamship trust would be dominated by English directors, but that the controlling company had a majority of American directors.The American column reached the former camp at Maciu Sunday night. On Monday the Moros opened fire on them with a brass cannon and rifles from a series of new forts which had been erected since Captain Pershing's first visit to the place. The battery tinder Captain William S. McNalr scaled a ridge commanding the position of the Moros and shelled them out. The engineers under Captain Jay J. Morrow hud constructed a trail over the swamp, Hanking the Moro position. The men of Captain Pershing's column crossed the swump by the trail and captured and destroyed three of the Moro forts. Exception was taken to the statement made by Oenerul Balfour, president of the British board of trade, In his speech at Sheffield that a majority of tho directors of the new combination were to be Britons. Charles Steele of J. P. Morgan & Co., who has had the details of the formation of the combination under bis supervision, said Mr. Balfour was slightly in error If he was quoted correctly In saying that tbe English interests would dominate the new combination. In discussing this point Mr. Steele said that Mr. Balfour evidently meant that the subsidiary companies of the steamship trust would be dominated by English directors, but that the controlling company had a majority of American directors.The American column reached the former camp at Maciu Sunday night. On Monday the Moros opened fire on them with a brass cannon and rifles from a series of new forts which had been erected since Captain Pershing's first visit to the place. The battery tinder Captain William S. McNalr scaled a ridge commanding the position of the Moros and shelled them out. The engineers under Captain Jay J. Morrow hud constructed a trail over the swamp, Hanking the Moro position. The men of Captain Pershing's column crossed the swump by the trail and captured and destroyed three of the Moro forts.
