The charges against Governor Gage grew out of the publication In the Call of articles which the governor had declared were Issued for the purpose «f Injuring him politically. Judge Keller declared that his court had Jurisdiction, although the defendants were residents of the state, because of the fact that they were charged with violating an Injunction Issued in resimnse to a bill brought by a domestic corporation against nonresident defendants, thus giving the court Jurisdiction in the case and over anybody who by his own act afterward became a party to the suit. ■ ■■■ O) American and Other Foreign Warships Belief is Abroad That He Will Com c5 O) Funeral Service* Will Take Place To. The funeral will take place tomorrow and will be marked by simplicity. No sermon or vocal music ia included in the programme. Governor Gage already had prepared n petition for a writ of habeas corpus, which was presented before Judge I.u-elen Shaw of the superior court immediately after Clie service of the warrant. After some argument before the court Judge Shuw granted the petition, naming a nominal ball of |TD(H). responsibility for which he himself assumed. Washington, Aug. 14.—The Navy Department received the following message this morning from Barcelona Venezuela: "Barcelona Is occupied by the revolutionists and they have imprisoned all the civil and military authorities of the government. They are in possession of the entire district. Some pillaging is being done. Everything is now quiet McLean." Wllkeslmrrc, I'a., Auk. 14.—In 3. I'ierpout Morgan striking coal miners believe they see the Moses who Is to lend them from strife to arbitration and perhaps victory. This sentiment, arisen no one knows how. Is of overwhelming force from one end of the coallleld to the other, and the news that the financier had sailed for Now York from Liverpool was received with enthusiasm everywhere. Crowds surrounded the bulletin 1 wards of the newspapers which announced his Railing, and operator and striker exclaimed together: "It'll soon end when Morgan gets back. He'll make them come to terms." lie reviewed the question of confederation between Richards and his associates and the parties named in the bill—Secretary Wilson. Charles Evans and other officers of the national organisationand held that the testimony adduced as to the attendance of the national board at the Huntington conference which callcd the strike, the furnishing of supplies to the strikers by the organization and the fact that all were members of local unions showed clearly tlint there was such a confederation as was contemplated by the injunction order. BRENNAN & ROBERTS, Corner Main and Thomas Streets, Next to Eagle Hotel. u ■ ■■ 5 Governor Gage was accompanied to the courtroom by Detective Gibson, Attorney II. H. Appel and tlio governor's private secretary. I. II. Foley. Upon the conclusion of the argument Judge Shaw granted the petition, and Governor Gage walked out of the room. Haytl: "K is impossible for me to communicate with Gonvalves, because the wires !»r..' being cut." Vienna, Aug. 14.—The Neue Freie Presse states that Queen Elizabeth, of Roumanla, has Invited Count Tolstoi to settle permanently In Bucharest as Iter honored guest. She reminds him that If be ends his days In Roumanla, no one can deny him Christian burial. Tolstoi will probably accept the Invitation, wihlch Is regarded as a deliberate affront to the Czar. Queen of Roumanla Honors Tolstoi, Carpets and Wall Papers at Reduced Prices IRON WORKERS' STRIKE OFF Counselor Burdett, for the prisoners, explained that his clients lind been on strike and had no money with which to meet the tine of $rD each and the costs of the litigation, which amounted to $1,000. The Judge thereupon remitted both the line and the costs. Mr. Morgan, the miners believe, will return determined to force concessions from the operators. This determination, no one believes, has come from any sociological sentiment, but from a business brain that can see the folly of continuing a weekly loss of millions which a placatory policy would avert. They believe he will use the Heading, Lehigh Valley and Central Railroad of New Jersey as a weapon to compel the management of the other coal roads to recede from their present positions. The revolutionists now hold the custom ports Ciudad de Bolivar, Guiria, L'ano, Colorado, Coro, Carupano and Barcelona. It Is probable that L'umanu will be captured today.
