Some 500 passengers were aboard the Central, mostly coming from New Jersey and bound for New York. There was an exciting time for a few minutes, but slight bruises were the worst Injuries any of them suffered. The ferry boat was the worst sufferer. The car float rammed a big hole in the boat. The hole, which was about 30 feet long, was, fortunately, above the water line. The Central was able to continue the trip. After landing her passengers at New York, she put back to Communipaw for repairs.
