HOLLAND WONT INTERVENE items of business transacted at the final session of the convention was the adoption of a resolution to the effect (hat all locals pay a uniform per capita tax for each quarter, to be based on the number of men in good standing at the end of the previous quarter. By order of the convention, the district board drew up an answer to the manifesto of the Citizens' Alliance, of Scranton, with respect to the boycotting maintained by the street car' strikers in that city. Among other things, this answer says: "We scarcely deem worthy of notice or consideration the opinion of this body of selfish, greedy and narrow-minded men who compose the Citizens' Alliance, commonly called Sllliman's Alliance, of the city of Scranton. and express our full sympathy lor the street railway men in their efforts to improve their condition." Jan. 18.—A tragedy occurred near Shipton last night, the result of a feud of long standing. Rev. Mr. Glddlng and his step-son, Harry Highfleld, became engaged in an altercation. The preacher stabbed the young man to death and was himself dangerously Injured. The trouble started when Giddings married the boy's mother, five years ago. On Thursday the probate Judge of this county Interfered and directed that the money should not be paid to the Indians, but to their eunrdlans. By order of the convention, the district board drew up an answer to the manifesto of the Citizens' Alliance, of Scranton, with respect to the boycotting maintained by the street car' strikers in that city.
