Aug. 15.—Th* Interest aroused In the Democratic convention, which meets he:e today lor the nomiiXBt'on of candidates for State tr^;surer and justice of the Sti* prem*; Court, Is something remarkable for an off-year. owing principally tw the bitter tight that Is being by the Philadelphia factfohs of the party /or the aoats *»f Vh*t city In the con- AttWugh the convention was fccheduted to meet lu the Opera House at 12 vD%clock, it was considerably after t-h#.* hour when State Chairman Creasy called the delegates to order. The hall was profusely decorated with American flags and bunting. Suspended in front of the stage was a large picture of the Goddess of Liberty, with the National colors. Thtt Democrats are usually enteVtallied at their State conventions by a brass band, but to day an orchestra of stringed instruments occupied the music box and discoursed popular airs while the delegates assembled. Another innovation ,was the distribution of printed diagrams, showing the locations of the various delegations on the floor. The representatives from Columbia. Clinton, Blair, Lebanon, Juniata. Wayne and Tioga had the seats usually occupied by Philadelphia and Allegheny. Philadelphia had a section all to itself on the left, while Allegheny occupied the corresponding position on the tight. The rank and file of the party were in the hall early, but the leaders were slow in ui riving. It was fcaid thiB morning that an agreement had been reached by which the expected-factional trouble In the convention will be averted. This agreement provides for an advisory committee of prominent State Democrats to act with ex-Governor Pattlson iu reorganizing the party in Philadelphia.Pittsburg, Aug. 15.—Reports from ine strike centers are coming in slowly this morning, but up to 11 o'clock tio change was reported In the $enei*a) situation.
