It looks as if the identity of the'sloop and of her skipper has been tiled. 119 Political circles in this city have been all agog today over reports of a serious break that is said to have occurred between the leaders of the Democratic organization and Mayorelect Cillespie. It was Jill over the appointment of a chief of police. The organization had set their minds on jone of their men for the coveted | prize at the bestowal of the new |mayor, but the mayor-elect did not see things.in the same light, and the announcement of the appointment of Patrolman Price to the position of chief, made several days ago, was in the nature of a political thunderbolt to the men who thought they had control of things political. It was proof to them that they were no longer "it." Mayor-elect Gillespie returned last night after a brief absence from the city, and this morning be and Major Flannery had their tlrst interview since the appointment of a chief. The interview was not in public and we have been unable to secure a stenographic report of the red hot conversation as it occurred. Enough Jias leaked out, however, to make it certain that it is all over between the '"Organization" and the new executive. The chief followed and caught him in the act of trying the rear door of one of the stores. The odicer placed him under arrest and. on searching him, found a large revolver that was loaded.
