It is the unanimous opinion of this comm.ttee that it is Inadvisable to hold a meeting with the Brotherhood committee at present, for the reason that no material interests will suffer by postponing this meeting, and for the principal reason that all this committee could do w®nld be to report the retult of the with recommendar tions, to the League at a special or at the annual meeting. "It is contrary to the past policy of the League to oall a special meeting in midson»- mer except for some extnsordimary emergency, and we fail to discover any necessity for immediate action on the points you raise. All the more, exempt from thoughts of foreign assault, ought our thoughts to turn to dangers which are internal and from which alone we can have serious barm. All the more should every thoughtful citizen consider how he may promote the public weal, how he may hold up our institutions in honor among ourselves, securing' and promoting both in Btate and national legislation those measures which have beet promoted, not individual, not the special, but the general good of all the people. We stand today as a nation exempt from all fears of foreign hurt It is not in the power of any people upon earth much to harm us, except our own people.
