In multitudes of :aaes valuable lost to farm:r'e families by,improvidence as to this roint. ;ijMonc spceial attention should be jivpn to the under clothing; that should ae prepared first, and enough of it to have t change in case of an emergency or accilent. Mapy farmers act even niggardly in furnishing their wives the means for such thipgs. It is far Wiser and safer to stint the members of his' fntruly in their food than in the timely and abundant supply of substantial tinder clothing Ibr winter wdat. [t would Save an incalculable amount of harry and its attendant vexations, and also of wearing anxiety, if farmer* were to supply thoir wives with the uecossary material for winter clothing as early as midsummer. In this conncction it would be well for fathers to learn p lesson of thrift from Bome of our lopg-headed city housewives. It is particularly the habit pr the well-todo, tlie fore-handed, and the rich—by which they legally and rightfully get at least twentf per eerit. for their money—to purchase the main articles of clothing at the close of any season, to bo fnude tip and worn the corresponding season or the next year. Merthoata uniformly aim, especially in the cities, to " close out" tjieir stocks, for example, foe the winter, at the end of winter or beginning of spring. They consider it profitable to sell out the remnant of their winter stock in 51 arch at cVcn less than cost, for on what they get fbr these remnants they make three profits—oh thfe spring; the summer, and the fall goods— Whereas, had they laid by their Winter stock, they woold have had but one profit, from which Would havo to be deducted the yearly interest, storage, Thus by purchasing clothing materials six or pigfat months beforehand, the farmer not only saves from twenty to forty per cent, of the first cost, but gives his wife erwlse be uneirtplriyed in a measure, and would enable her also to have everything done in a better manner, simply by having abundant thus avoiding baste, vexation, solicitude, and disappointment j for nothing so clouds a household as a sense ol being behindhand and of the necessity of painful hucry and effort, ■ Pew things will b,iing a more certain and happy reward to a farmer than forhlfo to remember that his wife U a social being : is not a machine, fcnd therefore needs' rest, and recrfeSdon, a'tid change No farmer Wfll lose in the lenig tan, elthei in "money, health, or domestlo comfort, en joymcnt and downright happiness, by al lottibg an occasional afternoon, from mid day Until bed-time, to visiting purposes Let him, With the utpi««t cheerfulness and heartlbps9, hia work, dress ,,him&e)l up, and take his wife to some pleasant neighbor's, friend's, house foi the express purpose of relaxation from the cares and toils Of hofne-, add fbr the interchange of friendly feelings and sentiments, and rilso tt a mtJans bf scaring that change of asaoeiatioti, air, and food, and mod* ol preparation, which always Wakes up the appetite, invigorates digestion, ttod imparts a new physical energy, At onoc delightful ttD see and to experience) all of which, in turn, tend do the mind, te nourish the affections, and to promote that hrpa4,th qf view in relation to racir and things Which elevates,,arid expand*, and cnncmles, and without which the whole nature hefefitheS so" so eohtrtcWd; So barren and uniutetciting)'"thfet both "men and Women besome but a shadow of Whati they ought to be. the fafhier nevct forgot that hit Wife (B his best friend, the most steadfast on oarth ; would do more for hun in qalamity, in misfortune, and siafcness, than, any other.human. being,,and on this account, to say nothing of the marriajjc vow, riiadc before higjv Ileaven and beiure men, fie owes to the wifb of liis bosom ft Consideration, tenderness, support, and a sympathy, which should put oWt of sight every feeling of profit and Itws the very rnstaat they come in collision with his wife's welfare as to her body/her miodi-and Uer olfactions. A misunderstanding of the case Mid an impatient resistance at ajl points has before now driven women to desperation, to a life-long hate, to suicide, or to the wretchedness of peering through the iron bars of a lunatic s cell for a long and miserable lifetime. The course of conduet to be pursued ia eases of this kind is at once the dictate of seienoc, of humanity, and of common sense; it is to sympathize with and Booth the patient in all ways possible until tht excess of perturbation has passed away, and the system calms down to Its natural, evch actlpn.
